Marissa Mayer's appointment as the CEO of Yahoo! has created a lot of conversation. Initially, I was saddened at the focus. I felt the stories were paying attention to Marissa's personal life in a way that would not have happen if a 37 year old male had been appointed to the position. Then I needed to find some good -- which of course I did -- in the way of Fast Company looking back at women who helped to open doors of opportunity by widening the conversation to include the entire population. Well done, short, retrospective.

An opportunity to be grateful. An opportunity to say 'Thank You'. An opportunity to remember hope springs eternal. Enjoy.
P.S. Thank you, Stew Gibbons for another outstanding photograph.
